Fair Trade & Environmental PolicyTales From The Earth endeavours, wherever possible, to conduct business in the UK and overseas in an environmentally friendly manner. This is important to us and, although our contribution in global terms isn’t huge, we believe our efforts do make a difference. We hope you see it this way too. Tales From The Earth insists that all members of our team comply with the following policy: UK operationsWe recycle used paper for scrap - when no longer required; it is shredded and used as packaging or recycled. When we receive boxes from suppliers – whatever size, we reuse all clean and tidy boxes and send the remainder for recycling. All empty cans and bottles are washed and recycled. When purchasing cleaning products – we ensure only eco friendly brands are bought and used. Local businesses bring us their surplus packaging from deliveries to re-use. We send our printer cartridges for recycling. Overseas operationsWhen choosing our suppliers we insist on the following conditions: We never employ children under the age of 16. We insist on acceptable working conditions of adequate heat, lighting, ventilation, regular meal breaks and safe working practices. We always pay above the local average wage. We use locally produced raw ingredients wherever possible. We employ local trade’s people. GeneralWe use only the minimum packaging required for our products, using recycled materials where available. We contribute to a carbon offsetting programme to help reduce the impact of running Tales From The Earth. Thanks for your support in helping Tales From The Earth make its contribution to the environment. Jo Culf and John DeCosta |
